She was Australian. Funny, magnetic, complicated.

She could fill a room with stories and laughter, yet somehow the closer you got, the harder she was to read. There was always another version, another layer, and getting to the truth of anything could be an adventure in itself.

This photograph was taken while she was getting dressed.

A small, unguarded moment between everything else.

A fragment of someone extraordinary who, perhaps, was never really going to be explained.

Digitally enlarged and retouched, with careful attention to tonal range, composition and depth.

On Scale, Imperfection, and the Poetry of Pixels

Portrait of Marie was captured on an iPhone 6s — a moment barely over 1MB in weight. But when scaled, it refused to remain ordinary.

Digital noise, compression and resolution loss became part of the image. Edges soften. Shadows bloom. What should have been technical limitation becomes texture.

The boundaries of skin and space begin to blur.

We are no longer just looking — we are seeing through.

What begins as technology ends as transformation.

The pixels dissolve — and what remains is presence.
